As babbleblog correctly reports, the next version of Windows (codenamed Longhorn) will be called Windows Vista.
My very first reaction was "Um, ewww"
Now that I've thought about it a little more, it's not the worst thing Microsoft could have chosen. However, I would have much preferred either a version number or another set of two letters. XP always sounded good to me, Vista is too much like - another word - because it is! (Apparently years don't work well because they date quickly.)
Still, nice to see some concentration on the user interface inLonghorn Vista!

Yuk. Windows discussion! Another good thing for Apple. They know how to name their versions with 'words' properly!

At first in seems less professional, but it has grown on me.
I love the bit on the video where they change their hats, rather American.
Do you know yet if it'll be 1 or 2 versions, as in Windows Vista Home and Windows Vista Professional?

According to Paul Thurrot there'll be more than that. According to his page on Longhorn here: http://www.winsupersite.com... there could be as many as 7 different versions. All subject to change!

7 seems like an awful lot, but once I'd looked at the versions they are fairly understandable.
Vista shall be very pretty if the screenshots there are anything to go by.

The proper UI won't be unveiled until Beta 2, apparently.

Um, good?

Um, just to make it clear, there probably should have been a comma there.
You never lose your ability to shock, Pingu
[Sense of irony because we all knew Pingu loves all things Apple already]
