The Musings of a Red Dalek
Awesome
Heya blog! I'm back! Yes - came back from the Big Apple on Friday morning and managed to avoid the effects of jet lag by staying up like normal. Before we get to the most-requested photos it's time for some observations about New York! Firstly - it's not America! OK, maybe it is, but it's very Londony too. I'm talking about the public transport, the lack of fat people walking around (sorry - stereotype but hey ) and all sorts of little touches that reminded me of home.

There are differences, of course. In London you sometimes wander into the road, decide you won't make it and go back to the pavement. In New York, oh no you don't! By the time you're in the middle of the gigantic crossings you're a million miles from the sidewalk so you might as well plough on and avoiding getting run over by the ubiquitous yellow taxis.

American TV is also... shit. Don't get me wrong, they make some great programmes, but it's still unwatchable due to the constant adverts. Fox News also stuck me as not only horrible, but really unprofessional too. And they have no idea how to interview without you hearing both people talking at once.

America does manage to completely outdo Britain sometimes though. Grand Central station is so beautiful compared to Paddington (where we left from). The buildings everywhere are huge and the grid system actually makes a hell of a lot of sense. That said, a lot of areas were instantly recognisable. Harlem? Harlseden. (Yup - we did lots of shopping in Harlem.) Bits of the village area remind me of Camden, while the concentrated areas of Chinese \ Italian etc people are familiar too.

Oh, and on the last day I managed to gain free access to the PC in the hotel lobby. Silly kiosk system they were using was too easy. Hehe!

Right - enough of me, and onto the photos, which kinda tell the story of where we went anyway. Enjoy!

Well, I hope that satisfied the people who have been on at me to blog! Goodnight! (Oh and incidentally, I was always wearing that coat because another thing New York outdoes London in is the cold. Brrr!)

The tv isn't that bad, but then I've never seen british tv. And fox news does suck, but theres all the other stations, so thats not important. For crossing the street, thats mostly true, but I'm assuming you were mostly in Manhattan. And there are plenty of fat people in New York

Kinda takes your breathe away doesn't it!

Something about Times Square that amazes me so much! Everytime I see it I think dirty, smelly and boiling hot with dust balls floating by! (In a good way). I just love it (this was in the summer though)!!!

Manage to get a ride in a taxi, lol?
