An iPod on the road to Damascus

OK – this morning I was a bit grumpy and was rather unfair to Apple. As Pingu said, “You’re seeming a bit ‘I’m holding the fort because apple’s taking over my pc'” and he’s right. Tonight iTunes has impressed me by accepting a USB 1.1 port – meaning that Natasha can use her iPod mini in her room. And, yes, that ‘browse’ button really helps!

I really needed to go for a walk and once I did today has been great. Tasha had a picnic in the park so I got to have lots of cake, coke and chocolate brownies. And then our new neighbours came round (one of which works for Sky and told me Murdoch reads Digital Spy!) and they are just reeeaally nice.

Ah – what a nice day.

Yet another edit – I forgot the big news of the day! Microsoft announced they are will be discontinuing the use of the word ‘My’ before everything in Longhorn.

  1. YES!!!
    I hate all those My’s.

  2. Oh and Murdoch reading DS is cool.

  3. Red Dalek says:

Well you can change them right now if you really want! Just right click and… Rename

  4. True, mine are all very bluntly called Documents and Pictures, but it is still rather stupid.

  5. El Barto says:

Please don’t say Tasha got a pink one!

  6. Red Dalek says:

She’s a girl – of course she did!

  7. Rob says:

OK, either thats spamming or he’s very bored!
Yes, guessings it’s spamming, same person, diffrent name everytime.

  8. Bagman says:

Im surprised dom allows all that advertising shit on his site. Is dom conforming?

  9. Rob says:

I don’t know, or what his anti spamming setup is like either :S

  10. Red Dalek says:

Damn – that’s what you get for sleeping in late!

The URLs posted will, of course, be blacklisted very shortly.

  11. Pingu says:

I don’t get the problem with ‘My’s – I even use em on my Mac.

  12. Pingu says:

    Who’s spamming?

  13. Red Dalek says:

Robots – they attacked the newer comments without automatic moderation, and used URLs which weren’t in the blacklist which is very unusual. Range of IPs, the most common of which was 216.60.246.197.

I have no plans to implement Captcha at this time, the current system is (normally) very effective… and of course, all links are marked with rel="no follow" anyway.

  14. Ragnarok_Warrior says:

    weird as me!

  15. Tasha says:

    I love my mini Ipod

  16. Red Dalek says:

Captchas make a site less accessible and create a barrier for legitimate comments – if the situation got out of hand I would use them but the blacklist with automatic IP blocking creates real pain for spammers without annoying anyone else.

That cartoon is stupid and offensive – everyone knows the perspex block is a holy symbol of [sacrifice \ guilty \ paedophile priests] (delete as applicable) and should not be made fun of. I hereby authorise myself to censor anything which goes against what I say and threaten you with an eternity of pain in an afterlife which you can’t see yet.

(And in hell – all music will be protected by uncrackable DRM playable only on the Windows 95 Media Player! Mwahaha)

  17. Pingu says:

Why no Captcha? It’s plenty easy.

    Oh and check this hahahaha:
